• Living Word Academy is an outreach of Living Word Family Church and enjoys the protection and anointing that corporate faith brings when saints are praying.

• Pastor Ashe received the vision from God over 15 years ago to start Living Word Academy. The school started in 1993 with nine students and today we have close to 110.

• Living Word Academy is a member in good standing with the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI), the largest Christian governing body in the United States.

• Mrs. Brenda Ashe, principal of the Academy, is a member in good standing with the International Fellowship of Christian School Administrators. (IFCSA)

• A large percentage of our teachers hold teaching degrees or certificates that are valid in several states (some with dual degrees) and together have accumulated thousands of instructional hours in both public and private education. Many of our parents voluntarily serve as classroom aides and substitutes which adds to the amount of personal instruction our students receive.

• All of our teachers have made a personal commitment to the Lord and are serving in a local church.

• Living Word Academy participates in the Peninsula Coed League (PCL). Living Word Lion sports include basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Students, 5th – 9th grade, play on a varsity level against area Christian schools and enjoy competition within a team environment.

• Living Word students have the opportunity to support the Living Word Lion teams by participating in the pep squad, junior varsity cheerleading squad, or the varsity cheerleading squad.

• Many of the students at Living Word are ahead of even the advanced A’Beka Curriculum and are given supplemental work to enhance their growth and development.

• Field trips are planned with a "behind-the-scenes" goal. Making pizzas, going through the emergency room, touring the bagel bakery, touring a submarine, going to the pumpkin patch, visiting the dentist office, going to library story time, touring the local radio station, going horse backing riding, spending time at the area museums and much, much more!

• Our students participate in the monthly "Principal’s Challenge" which covers a variety of subjects such as math speed drills, spelling bee, public speaking and states and capitals. Winners of these events go with Pastor and Mrs. Ashe to the "Pizza Hut buffet".

• Chapel sessions are conducted each Friday and all the students in all grades are involved in a presentation on stage. Every student gets an opportunity every week to minister with their class in front of the entire school.

• Special speakers and career personnel are invited to speak at some of our chapel sessions. In addition, Bible lessons are taught with the aide of puppets, scripture songs, and object lessons.

• Living Word Day Care runs from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each weekday. Students are given the opportunity to finish home work, work on school projects, play board games, watch Christian videos (which they love!), have snack and rest time and play outside.

• Living Word Academy has added to its great playground a one-of-a-kind circle-cycle and 12' industrial swing set that has truly been a hit! Make sure you check them out; they are the only ones in the area.

• SAT’s are given every spring to measure the progress of our students. Traditionally, our overall scores are very high including the honor in 1999 of obtaining a score of 100% in the language area of "vocabulary building". This means that no other Christian School tested in the United States did better than we did in this important area! Way to go, Living Word students!
